President Cocktail
Presidente Cocktail is a traditional Cuban cocktail created by the American bartender Eddie Woelke during the Prohibition years in the United States.
There are two versions under which government in Cuba Eddie Woelke created this popular drink
Firstly is Mario García Menocal, Cuba’s President from 1913-1921.
Secondly in honor of Gerardo Machado, General and also President from 1925-1933.
Certainly, the Presidente Cocktail was very popular between Havana’s high social class, likewise for American tourists who visited the island
The strong and sweet flavor of this cocktail is because of the mix of white rum, orange curaçao, dry vermouth and a few drops of grenadine.
Ingredients
- 1 1⁄2 ounces White Rum
- 3⁄4 ounces Dry vermouth
- ½ bar spoon real grenadine
- 3⁄4 ounces Orange curaçao
How to make it
Pour all the ingredients into a shaker with ice
Shake it for 30 seconds.
Strain into a chilled coupe.
